About Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

When General Jacques de Carles, a distinguished general of the French Revolution, took residence in this estate in Saint Émilion, he felt so at ease that he decided to honour it with the name Beau-Séjour, meaning "charming stay" in French. Nestled on the limestone plateau of Saint-Martin de Mazerat, this estate has been dedicated to winemaking since the Gallo-Roman era and lies at the heart of the AOC Saint-Émilion appellation. However, the great architect of this estate, classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the Saint-Émilion wine classification, was Michel Bécot. He acquired the château in 1969, expanded the property with neighbouring vineyards of the same quality, and constructed a storage cellar where thousands of bottles can rest under optimal conditions. Today, his sons Gérard and Dominique, along with his granddaughter Juliette, continue the legacy.

Their flagship wine, Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. These vineyards, over 40 years old, are planted on clay-limestone soils and cultivated following responsible agricultural practices that preserve the natural balance of the terroir and environment. In the winery, the grapes are meticulously selected and destemmed, and fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Afterwards, the wine ages in new and one-year-old French oak barrels for 17 months.

The result is one of the great wines of the appellation; Château Beau-Séjour Bécot, a creation whose title of Premier Grand Cru Classé is proven year after year, with a blend full of expression and density.

2022

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2022 is a veritable gem from the Saint-Émilion region. On the nose, this wine enchants with a complex bouquet reminiscent of wild berries such as blueberries and blackberries, intertwined with the floral scent of rose petals and violets. Simultaneously, citrus notes of orange zest and a hint of roasted espresso add depth. On the palate, it is a supple and smooth wine, with a core of fresh fruit that unfolds elegantly with vibrant flavours. Its tannins are as polished as they are structured, culminating in a saline finish that entices further enjoyment. Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2022 is particularly recommended for those who appreciate a sophisticated wine, with a harmonious blend of fruits, flowers, and toasted notes, offering a memorable tasting experience.
