About AMI Bourgogne Aligoté Skin

Sommelier Paul Marchand-Perarnau and winemaker Willy Roulendes were two childhood friends who worked together at the Clos du Moulin aux Moines winery in Auxey Durresses, in the Burgundy region. But when one of them left, they decided to create their own winemaking project and make the most of their great experience and friendship. This is how, in 2014, they made their dream come true in the Maranges valley, south of the Côte de Beaune under the name AMI (friend in French). The result could not be more positive, a collection of attractive, brilliant wines with minimal intervention. One of their most outstanding wines is AMI Bourgogne Aligoté Skin. An orange wine made from Aligoté variety grapes grown in Chassey-le-Camp (about 5 kilometres from Bouzeron) on soils composed of clay and limestone and rich in sand. These 45-year-old vines are organically cultivated and biodynamically treated. Once the grapes are harvested by hand, 50% are pressed directly and the remaining 50% are destemmed by hand and macerated for 10 days. The wine is then aged in old barrels for 10 months. Finally the wine is bottled without clarifying or filtering and without adding sulphites.

This is how the AMI orange wine was born, a limited production wine with a grainy texture and sparkling minerality. Although many of us already know that the fourth colour of wine is here to stay, AMI Bourgogne Aligoté Skin is the perfect introduction to the world of quality orange wine.

AMI Bourgogne Aligoté Skin 2020 is a defined orange wine that boasts citrus aromas, herbal hints and chalky touches. On the palate it has a pleasant, fresh and energetic mid-palate. A wine with wonderful acidity, a grainy texture and a very mineral finish.

2019

AMI Bourgogne Aligoté Skin 2019 is an orange wine characterized by its citrus aromatics, herbaceous undertones, and mineral accents. On the palate, it is refreshing, approachable, and harmoniously balanced. This medium-bodied wine boasts a lively acidity and a delightful granular texture. The finish is extensive and distinctly saline.
