Dominique Gruhier and Laurent Delaunay, cousins and fifth-generation scions of a wine trading and producing family in Burgundy since 1893, have joined forces to establish a contemporary international brand focused on the quest for a cool terroir. Being of the same age and raised together during their childhood, they are in close concert in their commitment to encapsulate the tension and minerality of the Chablis vineyard. Indeed, these cousins together form an impressive partnership. Dominique, a pioneer in organic, biodynamic, and sustainable viticulture in Chablis with over 30 years of winemaking experience, brings an intimate understanding of the terroir. On the other hand, Laurent, an oenologist and brand creator who has successfully revitalized his family's ancient estate Edouard Delaunay, contributes a broad market insight.

Thus, the Edouard Delaunay Chablis Grand Calcaire was born, a chardonnay white wine under the AOC Chablis appellation (Burgundy) that foregrounds the mineral character of the cool climate. To achieve this, they select the finest grapes from family-affiliated growers situated in north-facing plots, often shaded, founded upon Kimmeridge clay-limestone marl soils. Subsequently, the grapes are vinified at Dominique Gruhier's estate in Épineuil, in the Burgundy region, with the same precision and care as in the vineyard.
